| |Hi all, I know I have been missing in action. I peek in on a few blogs here and there, but haven't had time to update of late. I wanted to ask for your prayers again for this great guy
This is from his Senior photo shoot at the beach...taken by my sister Mary. Captures him so well with the big smile and relaxed look. He wasn't feeling his best, but went anyway and Mary captured many good shots I will be sharing soon.
Anyway, David has had a relapse and is again quite ill. We are driving up the coast on Friday to Santa Barbara to go to a special doctor that I believe can help us. In the meantime, he is in a lot of pain especially in the knees and other joints, can't eat a whole lot, and feels pretty bad most of the time. So please join us in praying for wisdom and healing.
Farmer Bob and I have been doing a lot of this...digging, weeding, planting, and working in the garden.
We have lettuce, chives, and flowers
blueberries ...that make me happy!
way too much chard!
tender yellow squash
Micro greens and the last of the snowpeas
strawberries flowering after the first round of fruit
artichokes on David's plant. I have 8 tomato plants in, and they are just starting to have the first ripe tomatoes on them. The little round ones were first.
All of which is very, very useful as I have been on an organic, raw, vegan diet for the last 5 weeks.
Yummy salad from the garden with chive flowers and pine nuts.
A favorite meal we have only had once so far. Falafel "meatballs" are actually made out of sunflower seeds and seasonings, and you eat it with all the veggies and sauce wrapped in a lettuce leaf.
raw mango berry "pie"
The crust underneath is made using pecans and dates with vanilla and cinnamon. It tasted so buttery...but that was just the pecans. We used berries from the garden and mangos mashed for the filling.
Have to say this was one of the yummiest deserts I have ever tasted.
My guys have been eating a lot of what I eat, and also other foods they want. Even with "cheating", as Bob calls it, he is down about 8 pounds. So unfair, as I consider him pretty slender already...but he has a good metabolism. I am down 7-8 pounds too, which is good for me. Some of the program participants lost 15-20 pounds though. Best though, I feel like some healing work is going on inside of me, my pain levels from fibro are down, my varicose veins are smoother, my clothes are looser, and my energy is better.
I have more pics from my trip to Colorado to share. We are getting ready for David's graduation in a couple weeks. Our eldest, Daniel and his wife, Heidi, will be joining us later this week. So looking forward to seeing them, as it has been 5 months since we have been together. Oh, and they are expecting their first baby before next Christmas! Nick and Alicia are expecting their 2nd baby in August. I am a happy grandmother!
